Ideas for Sessions

Session 1:

Mark 1 and 2:

Themes….

Games:

  • Chinese Whispers
  • Wet Head e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Whum63A5Y6c.  Needs specific Equipment
  • Simon Says – Copycat game.
  • Who’s In Charge? – One person goes out of the room, everyone else sits in a circle. Out of the rest someone is picked to be the leader.  That person starts doing basic actions and movements that everyone else copies. e.g. clapping, tapping their leg, moving a part of their body.  The person who has gone out has to come in and guess by watching who is in charge.  They have 3 chances to get them.  The Leader tries to do it without being caught, but they must change the action every so often.

Intro Questions:

  • Which football team or band do you love the most?
  • Who would you like to have mentor you out of anyone in the world?
  • Which famous person would you like to follow around and be a part of their squad the most?
  • What books of the bible have you read?
  • Who is your favourite character in the bible?
  • What do you know about Jesus’ life already?

 

Session 2:

Mark 2 and 3:

Themes….

Games:

  • Keeping the Rules:  Half make up a simple set of rules around how to speak to each other, or how to interact with each other, and what they do if they are not adhered to.  The other group have to guess what the rules are.
  • Consequences – Each player starts with a piece of paper. The players each write a phrase as the first step in a story, and then fold the paper to hide the phrase before passing it to the next player.  The steps are as follows, where the things should be replaced by the chosen words or phrase:
    • 1) A few adjectives after having done this, the paper must  be folded and passed on ; this time must be written 2) “the name of the man;”  (3) one or more adjectives; then (4) a woman’s name; next (5), where they met; next (6), what he gave her; next (7), what he said to her; next (8), what she said to him; next (9), the consequence; and lastly (10), what the world said about it.

  • What’s your favourite story? Why?
  • WHat’s the worst weather you’ve ever been in?
  • What’s the best thing you have ever been given, what’s the best thing you have ever given?
  • What do you know about the book of Mark?
  • What do you remember from last time?

 

Session 3:

Mark 5 and 6:

  1. Faith and Doubt

Games:

  • Trust games:  Catching when you fall etc.
  • Blindfold assault course.
  • 2 Truths and a Lie
  • Play a game of Balderdash:  Where 1 out of 3 people have the correct version of the word, the other 2 (or how ever many ) have to come up with an alternative meaning of the word.  Those let have to guess which is the correct means.  Use these words to play the game: WORDS

Intro Questions:

  • Who do you trust most in your life?  Why?
  • Do you trust everything you read or see on social media?
  • Do you think with filters and CGI we are less believing in what we see?
  • What’s been your most amazing answer to prayer ever?

 

Session 4:

  2. Children of God
  3. Compassion
  4. Who is in Control?

Games:

  • Play a game of Heads Up on your iPhone:
  • Play a game of the 90’s game POGs!
  • Play “Never have I ever…” Rules 

Intro Questions:

  • What’s been your most embarrassing moment?!
  • What can you think of that’s been a fad that isn’t around any more?
  • What games did everyone have to get on their phone? What was your best scores on them?
